Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey Review
Просмотров 5313 месяца назад
Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey is an old brand that has been around for a very long time. I remember drinking this stuff twenty years ago and thinking it was just ok. But, I think they have boosted the ABV to 43.2% since then. It's changed and I hope my review captures those changes. Thanks for tuning in! Best, Jason Debly

Glenfarclas 12 year old Single Malt Scotch whisky is one that I am very familiar with. I am not a fan, but I really like the 17 year old. Anyway, here is my review for your perusal. Please comment whether or not you are a fan of this distillery. Best, Jason Debly
Mortlach 12 years "The Wee Witchie"

The Mortlach distillery have replaced their 'Rare Old' release with this 12 year old single malt. It comes in at 43.3 % ABV. The price point in Canada is $100 so about the going rate now for a 12 year old in Canada in the single malt scotch category. Please watch my review and comment with your thoughts on this one! Everyone is familiar with Johnnie Walker Red, Black and even Blue, but not so much the Green Label, which is the subject of tonight's review. Johnnie Walker Green Label is a blend of single malts and so falls into the category of 'pure malt' or 'blended malt' meaning no grain whisky is to be found in this brand extension. The ingredient single malts making up this blended malt are Talisker, Cra...

The Macallan 'Classic Cut' Review
Просмотров 9638 месяцев назад
The 'Classic Cut' by the Macallan distillery comes out each year a little different. I have the 2022 edition to review this evening. The ABV is 52.5% which means this single malt is no shrinking violet. Not for the scotch newbie. This is a big dawg for the whisky dawg who has tried a great many malts. Tune in and see if this single malt is for you!
MacNairs Lum Reek Blended Malt Review
Просмотров 5818 месяцев назад
MacNair's Lum Reek Blended Malt 12 years is an affordable bottle you may find at the liquor store. It comes in a 700 ml bottle and bottled at 46% ABV, natural color and no chill filtration. Aged in French, American oak and sherry casks proves to be interesting. Glenallachie is the principal single malt in this blend of Islay and Speysiders so you get a sherry and smoke flavor that is very nice....

With Christmas and Hanukkah 2022 behind us, I was thinking of an appropriate spirit to review at this special time of year and the answer is: Gran Duque D'Alba XO. Cardhu is a distillery that sits on the north bank of the river Spey, and so naturally is situated in the Speyside region. The distillery has its origins back in the days when smuggling whisky happened and farmers tried their best to avoid the excise tax men from England. Tenant farmers John and Helen Cumming made whisky and sold it through their kitchen window in the beginning. People might th...

I understand the history is that Diageo owned Bushmills in their portfolio, and sold Bushmills in what turned out to be unlucky timing as Irish whiskey suddenly had a revival and took off. So, Diageo resurrected the name Roe and Co from history and started a new Irish distillery to make the spirit. Such is life in business I guess, in the spirits trade! Thanks for the review.
